Sehwag continues to be World No1 Test batsman

Sehwag continues to be the World No1 Test batsman.ICC rankings for Test batsman was announced recently and Sehwag held on to his number one spot.Sehwag is leading with 863 points followed by Hashim Amla from South Africa and Jayawardene from Srilanka.
Sachin and Gambhir are the other two Indian batsman who are ranked in the top 10 in the ICC rankings.

India as a team have 124 points and are World No1 Test side followed by South Africa with 10 points and Australia with 119 points.Sachin is currently behind Gambhir in the seventh position with 805 points.

Sachin back in Top 15 in ICC rankings

Sachin Tendulkar after his match saving innings his back in the top 15 in ICC rankings. Sachin played a waiting game and his century helped India to save a Test match. The other major changes in the rankings is that Jayawardena after a great 275 against India in the first Test overtook India’s Gambhir to grab the top spot.

Rahul Dravid is in 21st position. Sachin and Kevin Pieterson of England share the 15th place. Sachin very recently scored 30,000 runs in both Test and One Day International and I feel it will take ages for someone to come and break his record.

Shane Watson and his girlfriend Lee Furlong are seen in the Brisbane airport. Shane Watson started the ICC tournament with 4 ducks for Australia and then went on to make two consecutive hundreds in the semi finals and the finals which helped Australia to retain to the title of Champions Trophy.

Shane Watson was praised the Aussie captain Ricky Ponting. Ponting said that this is the Shane Watson that thy know and he has proved his presence in the ICC Champions Trophy.Shane Watson revived his career with IPL( Indian Premier League) or else Australia would have lost his services totally.

Dhoni wins the ICC ODI Player award

Ms Dhoni the Indian captain wins the ICC Cricketer of the year Award. This is the second consecutive year the Dhoni wins this award. The Indian captains consistent performance is the main reason for him to get this award. Dhoni was not present on the occasion to collect the award . Indian team is going on a lean patch and for three consecutive times India have made an early exit in the ICC tournaments.

Dhoni has also been declared as the captain for the ICC ODI and Test teams. India ‘s Gautam Gambhir became the ICC best test player of the year. India needs more consistency to be the best team in the world and for that to happen they need to perform has a team and not as individuals.

Shoaib Akhtar axed from ICC World T20

Shoaib Akhtar the Pakistani speedster axed from the T20 squad due to an skin infection. Coach confirmed the news to the media that Akthar is dropped from the squad and the replacement for Akthar will be speedster Rao Iftikhar.

I personally feel that Akthar is coming to the end of his International Cricketer.the speedster off late is sidelined by injuries and he is not able to play most of the international tournaments.

India to host more matches in World Cup 2011

It has been officially declared that India will host more matches in this edition of the World Cup.After the terrorist attacks in Pakistan all the matches which was supposed to be held in Pakistan have been canceled.So the venue for all the 49 mathces of the 2011 World Cup are

India will host 29 Matches
SriLanka will host 12 Matches
Bangladesh will host 8 Matches.

There is a talk that the Pakistan players may totally skip the Matches that are to be played in India.But the ICC is not concerned about that and they have declared that Pakistan is not a safe country to play the World Cup.

ICC celebrates 100 years of Cricket

Cricket has become a famous sports almost in all countries and with the advent of T20 I am sure cricket will soon be added in Olympics. This game of Cricket was started in the year 1909. It has lasted till 2009, and grace for the game has not come down even a bit. This is the biggest achievement for the Sports.

I personally feel there is going to be a everlasting grace for this game. Over the past 100 years there are some legends we have got from this "Game of Cricket". One of the Legend who is still playing today is Sachin.
