The answer to last Sunday's question is Acer palmatum or Japanese Maple.
Same family as the great big trees famed in New England for producing the syrup (yum) and closely related to the Sycamore, dontchaknow. In fact often you'll find a Maple grafted on to the root stock of a Sycamore, fact fans.
