Raksha Bandhan
In India on the full moon day in the month of Shravana, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated. 6000 years ago, this Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan came into origin. On this day sisters pray to God for their brothers welfare and their long life and tie the scared thread in their hands. In turn, brothers give their sisters special gifts on Raksha Bandhan day. This festival is celebrated to express the love and affection between sisters and brothers.
The story behind the Raksha Bandhan is “During the war between Lord Krisha and King Shishupal, Lord Krishna killed Shishupal and got a hurt in his finger. Draupathi on seeing his bleeding finger, immediately torn her and tie it to stop the bleeding. Sri Krishnar in turn helped her while Kauravas try to remove her sari. Lord Krishna declared her as his Sister.
