A Great Start for the Brits

GB has probably already exceeded or at least met their goals for this world championships. The aim was simple - qualify for the next worlds (one step closer to a home olympics) and let the world know they are not to be ignored.

Job done! although the competition is nowhere near over.

Women's
Competing in the first day of qualification, the british girls knew they would have to watch and wait for their final placement. However, they needn't of worried. They qualified in 5th to the team final ahead of Australia.

Beth Tweddle struggled on floor but qualified with ease to the bar final in 3rd. Imogen Cairns made the vault final. Hannah Whelan and Nicole Hibbert both qualified for the All Around final.

Mens
In the team qualification the GB lads hit all 30 of their routines without a major error. They are sitting in 4th place JUST behind the USA and well in reach of a medal if they can be as consistent in the final.

Also Olympic bronze medallist Louis Smith made the pommel horse final, Daniel Purvis made the floor final and All Around final. Sam Hunter also made the all around final.

So......job not quite done yet then!
