Narsinghi, Bangladesh: Angry local people burnt a Kishoreganj bound train at Bashail in the district town on Wednesday morning in protest at killing of poura mayor Lokman Hossain.

Sources said over 10 passengers were injured while trying to escape from the burning train.
The express train 'Egarosindhu' was set on fire in the town at 10:45am.
At least 10 compartments were set ablaze in the incident.

The injured were treated locally and the train service on Dhaka-Chittagong route remained stopped.
Meanwhile, angry mob vandalized 10 buses at Amtola on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur upazila protesting the killing of mayor Lokman.

Meanwhile, It was a heartrending scene when the body of assassinated Mayor of Narsingdi Lokman Hossain brought to his Basail home in the town from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 12-30 pm on Wednesday.

His wife, family members and close relatives were wailing. Hundreds of supporters and well wishers thronged his home to have a last glimpse of their leader.

The namaj-ejanaza of Lokman was held at Narsingdi Stadium after the Asr prayer. More than 300,000 people including Awami League leaders, MPs, workers and elite of the Narsingdi town attended the janaza. Later, he was buried in Narsingdi Municipal Graveyard.

Three-day hartal in Narsingdi called by BCL has been withdrawn.
BCL, student wing of ruling Awami League had called for 72-hour hartal from Wednesday to protest the assassination on Tuesday night of Lokman Hossain, Mayor of Narsingdi and general secretary of Narsingdi town Awami League.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by district Awami League general secretary Abdul Maatin Bhuiyan announced three-day mourning (Wednesday-Friday) at the death of Lokman Hossain.
Bus service on different routes of Dhaka-Sylhet highway was resumed at 6-30 pm today after 22 hours of blockade.

Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet train service was also resumed following the line was cleared at 6-30 pm. The Dhaka-Kishoreganj train set on fire by mob at 10-45 at Narsingdi station was removed.
Narsingdi rail station master Maran Chandra Das told UNB that a salvage train from Dhaka pulled the burnt train to Jhenarddi station.

He said all trains can now pass through Narsingdi station with signal system controlled from the nearby Jhenardi station. The auto signal system at the station was damaged by the fire.

Blockade on the highway was put up at Narsingdi by mob at 8-30 pm Tuesday as news spread about the death of Lokman Hossain, Mayor of Narsingdi and general secretary of town Awami League. Bus services resumed from Dhaka to Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Monohordi.
